I made this page because people always asking me what they need to protect there computer from virus, spyware & hackers I have put together a list of free programs that I use. AVG - Free Edition
This Will Protect your computer from viruses & trojan horses, There basic package is free for personal use they do offer a paid subscription that includes some other programs but using the 3 that I reccomend will cover you the same for free.
The advantages of AVG is it automaticly sets itself to Auto Update to keep your computer safe and it runs as standard 1 scan a day (if your pc is on) and this all comes included in the free edition!

Spybot - Search And Destroy
This will protect your computer from Spyware and identity theft.
It has a great feature called immunise which one u do the first time (u have to re immunise after updating manually) it will silently block known bad sites and spyware that normally will just add itself to your computer
The down fall to spybot is u have to manualy update it and reimmunise after each update (in windows 7 you have to run as administrator to immunise can do this by right clicking the icon and run as administrator) You manually have to run the scans aswell. You should update and run 1ce a week
The upside Its Free and Efficient!

Altrnative Virus Scanner - Advast
The reason I Sometimes have to use this one is if your computer already has a virus, some virus block you being able to update your scanner, When u download advast it already comes updated unlike AVG will download a base standard edition then once installed it will ask to update. Also advast is not as well known as AVG so I have not had a problem updating even with a virus. still gives as good protection as AVG, just less well known. Again the free edition is fine along with the 2 programs to the right will keep your computer protected

Zone Alarm
Zone Alarm basicly improves the default windows firewall which stops hackers and unautherised people accessing your computer.
