Local Prices Of Bali 2010 - My Stay and Experiences

First of all the average exchange rate whilst I was there was 10,000 Rupia = Approx $1.32 Australian not that this should change the appount of products as u are buying in there currency....

Low QualityMens Singlets
20,000 (they will hassle for 25000-30,000++)
by low quality i mean they are a singlet often sold as a bintang, jack daniels, everlast ect. They have a iron on style the main low quaility is the print, theres nothing wrong with them but they will wash out eventually
Embroided Cotton singlets (usually Nike) 27,000 cheapest i got but 30,000 is reasonable and she only budged to 27,000 after i had alreadee bought 2 for 30,000 but seen another colour i wanted.
Embroided Cotton Harley Davidson Singlet - We haggled for about a hour and tryied a few different shops we they would not budge on 90,000 and wernt to happy about it... Try for 75,000!
Lighters zippo, jet ect 20,000 (dont pay more!) The will give u any reason why this one is better but 20,000 is the going rate.... Dont forget to drain them of there fluid before packing them in suitcase!
JUMBO Zippo - I mean HUGE  100,000 that will take some fighting for to get that price but will do :)
Open up cigerate case with built in jet lighter 30,000
cigerette case that pushes up a smoke at a time, 40,000
(lighters n cases in any design)
Womans brand name purses 40,000 - 65,000 depending on quaility
sarongs 50,000 for 2 - You can push for 80,000 for 4 if u buy from same person
brand name hand bags, (think dani payed 150,000 and only just accepted)
Nike Siborg Shoes, The best price we got was 180,000 but most wouldnt budge on 220,000
Mens back packs i paid 65,000 (with alot of bargining... It was a low quality Adidas one) and bought a nike backpack that was formed is shape compared to the low quality one which is simular material to a green bag... The nike bag also had a detachable bum bag with it...
Colonge/Purfume in Hardeys (kinda like kmart, target)  we got to a low of 40,000 a piece Alot of them were really good, But be sure to ask to smell it first! I ended up buying 10 which ended up costing about A$45
Fire Works :) we ended up finding a massive 36 shot fire work and wouldnt budge on 200,000 on the beach in sanur we could get two 12 shot(one paket)  for 80,000
Mens Belts got a Nike Belt for 50,000, Bought a CK belt with a harley davidson belt with big buckle for 90,000, bought 2 big buckle harley davidson belts with harley imprinted stamps on belt for 100,000
Mens Nike Watch - bought first one for 50,000 but ended up buying 10 more @ 35,000 each they r replicas so even tho says 30m wr does not mean water proof ;)
Harley Davidson Wallets - These have a Harly Davidson Logo stamped into leather 40,000
Harley Davidson med Woodern Motor bike carving - 60,000 Be sure to check it well for any holes in wood! customs wont let it in if it does cheepest u will find them is UBUD markets, this is where every one buys them from
Cigarettes - Dunhill 20's were 11,000 a pacaket or country were 9,000 they are probally the nicer 2 brands
Bananas at monkey Village 20,000 a bunch or 3 bunches for 50,000

Transport  We were hiring push bikes when over there usually 2 days at a time for 50,000 the longer u hire the more negotiable they are It is a good way to see your surroundings, Hiring from someone on beach is cheaper than your hotel, U can hire a scooter for 50,000 a day + fuel but you will need a international licence (or have only 50,000 in your wallet if u get pulled over by police to bribe them with which is a common practice over there)  Taxis Flagfall starts at 5,000 and goes up by 350 intervals but negotiating a price prior getting in is a much better option if traveling a fair distance. Keep in mind u can get a driver for the whole day from as little as 300,000. Also a fun experience is Hiring a jet ski in sanur the cost price is 350,000 for half a hour, there asking price is 300,000 per 15 mins we only found out becase the person we hired bikes of every day got them for us and made us give the money to the jet ski person which is uncommon practice... A hour on a glass bottom boat cost us 150,000 each (3 of u) for a hour, again there asking price was 300,000 a hour p.p.

Bartering - These are the cheapest prices we got if u a prepared to argue with them u get things cheaper it becomes fun after awhile and They 90% time will dissagree with ur price so just walk out the shop and they will Usually say ok to ur price... They believe the first and last customer is good luck! Just think they are trying to rip u off! tell them u all ready bought the thing @ the prices above in Sanur they very rarely dont not accept... You are better off saying u have been  there for 2 weeks alredy when u arive as they are less likely to try rip u off mind u they all will try..

BOOZE Be sure u buy some booze at the airport duty free b4 u leave!! Booze here is not cheap any more! u can bring 1 litre over on the plane I paid $29 for 1 litre of Wild Turkey! Its like about 7-10$ for cocktails and about $6 for spirits (we drink like jonny jacks malibu..) If u can handle the local spirit ARAK that is only about $3.50 a drink bintang ranges from 15,000 - 35,000 depending on size and where u buy  Coke and soft drink is extreamly cheap from convienence stores

Chemist / Pharmacy - They are quite expensive over there compared to Australia, Be sure to pack enough Sunscreen, After sun/burn cream, Panadol, Nurophen,  Direheia stopping tablets its also worth taking Vitiman C with echinaia every day whilst over there to keep immune system high...

Accomidation I would highly recomend NOT staying in kuta, Kuta has good night life yes but the people there are very pushy and persistant, It can make a relaxing holiday a stress full one. We stayed in Sanur and would again, Its about 20 mins out of kuta but only costs about 50,000 in non peak hour traffic in a Taxi.   We stayed at the Griya Santrain Sanur, It was expensive(for bali) $130 a night in the seccond best room available But amazing!  I would recomend it the atmosphere of the hotel was great! I looked threw some other resorts/hotels along the beach but was happy to pay the bit extra for a real nice place, Clean, Complamentry water bottles daily, Rooms made daily with fresh towels and linnen, free wifi & computers to use. I was there my birthday and even got a presnet from hotel :)
